Items

When armor is over-enchanted to +4 or higher, each item will give the character a bonus to HP.

Item Enchant Window

The interface for Item Enchantment has been made more intuitive.

Vitality

  • A new instant item, "Vitality Replenishing Herb," has been added.
  • It gives you a 5 minute boost to your Vitality Level while hunting. During this 5 minutes, you gain the normal experience for killing a monster (regardless of your current Vitality level). However, also gain points in Vitality, allowing you to increase your Vitality level.
  • Vitality no longer decreases while hunting monsters for characters below level 9 who have the "Lucky" skill.

Mini-Game Addition

  • A simple and enjoyable mini-game has been added.
  • It can be accessed using the "/minigame" command or by clicking the "Mini-Game" icon in the Action Window.
  • The game requires you to create an icon chain of 3 in a row, either horizontally or vertically.

Changes to Existing Skills

  • Once the "Invincible" skill effect is applied, it cannot be re-applied for a certain amount of time. Related skills include: Celestial Shield, Flames of Invincibility, Sonic Barrier, Force Barrier, Servitor Barrier, Sublime Self-Sacrifice
  • The bug concerning HP/MP not being fully restored when a character is revived through the "Salvation" skill has been fixed.

Other Changes

  • An "Adventurers' Guide" NPC has been added to Hunters Village.
  • An "Underground Coliseum Helper" NPC has been added to the Underground Coliseum.
  • A bot reporting button has been added to the Actions window.
  • The Personal Teleport icon has been added to the Action Window under "Basic Actions." This button is not functional yet. But once it is, we will give you more information regarding its use.

Miscellaneous Fixes

  • The weight of common items has been reduced by 2/3.
  • The name of the "Double Cutter" skill, which can be used with the Demonic Sword Zariche, has been changed to: Power Slash - Inflicts a powerful slashing attack with the cursed sword.
  • The bug affecting the "Morning Star" item appearing twice in the shop sales list has been fixed.
  • The bug preventing changing a sealed Foundation or Masterwork Majestic Circlet Robe item into heavy armor has been fixed.
  • The bug preventing some dualswords from being normally refined has been fixed.
  • The bug concerning the Wolf Summoning Bracelet's total magic power not displaying properly has been fixed.
  • The bug concerning some Dynasty Armor shoulder decorations not equipping properly has been fixed.
  • While an item is being enchanted, it can no longer be dropped.
  • The incorrect effect explanations for some Dynasty armor sets have been fixed.
  • The following effects of the Dynasty Platinum - Force Master set item have been changed: Existing: Str +1, Dex +1, Con -2 / New: Str +2, Con -2
  • Demon's Gloves and Boots are now sold by vendor NPC’s.
  • The bug concerning ‘Chance’ augments triggering when an incorrect skill type is used has been fixed.
Honestly, I don't know how they will implement the bot reporting button, as this maybe abused by players who just want to hassle their clan enemies, but we'll see soon (if this gets implemented in L2 SEA as well!).

Gracia Update Review

After a week or so of absence, I'm back in Ether. Below is my review for Gracia.

Returning to Gracia as a Newbie

In order to fully experience Gracia for what it is--a more newbie friendly update--I decided to make an alternative character in Blackbird. Take note, I named him Alcarcalimo as well--that means you can have the same name from Aria as long as no one else is using it in Blackbird as well.

I expected that like in the NA servers, all new characters would be getting the 4 Vitality points right away, but unfortunately it's not the same here. It's okay anyway as you will read in a couple of paragraphs after this one.

Lineage 2's Vitality points Rock!

As you can see from the screenshot above, I was able to level up from 1 to 6 just by killing one Gremlin. Yes folks, it's THAT easy! I was also able to add more vitality points up to 4 as I went along and completed the non-violent tasks. Her's a tip for newbies: don't grind! Just kill the required number of mobs and you'll do fine. You'll be wasting precious Vitality points if you do.

After approximately 8 hours of playing, I am now on Level 18--and that's with large intemittent spaces of not playing. Which means that if you do take rest periods, your Vitality points will shoot up eventually. The problem is, that some players burn all their Vitality points away by just grinding. I would suggest that you do quests and take some rest periodically.

Vitality point system vs. PTP scheme

Unfortunately, resting would be a problem if you have a timer ticking. Yep, the Pay to Play scheme is going against the idea of resting for vitality points. This is fine if you only bought a loadtime for one day, but there are a lot of players who buy the 30-day gametime load (like me).

Now, we're torn if we'll let our characters rest while their Vitality points rise. Possible solutions? Get an alt character or do some Raid Boss hunting. However, that will require getting some high levelled weapons and armor--and it's easier now!

A whole new world...for cheapskates

One of the gripes of many Lineage 2 players is the fact that weapons and armors are extremely expensive. Usually they resort to buying from RMT sellers or create bots to farm out mats and sell them for high prices to obtain one piece of armor. Now, with the reduced prices, more players will be able to get up until B-grade level weapons and armors.

How this will affect the in-game economy is still to be seen, but at least the standard rates are low. The only way for a player to sell the same weapon or armor is by selling it a lower price. Good for players, maybe bad for sellers.

Kudos to NCSoft and AMDG for the Gracia update as it seems to be a resounding success! The only thing we have to wait for now is Part 2 and the final part of Gracia to be updated as well.

Ashlianna: The Immobilizing Guardian

There I was, going to and fro Giran, Dion, the Dwarf's Village, and the Execution Grounds to fulfill my quest to be a full-blooded Bladedancer when all of a sudden I saw a very unfamiliar site.

In the Dark Elf's Guild was an elf. She was wearing a formal gown of some type. I just had to look and see what someone from the opposite side of the race was doing there. Lo and behold it was a Guardian, Guardian Ashlianna...

Her name would be familiar to Lineage 2 SEA Forumers as she has been sought after by many of the male population. She even has a fanclub thread devoted to her.

After a few chats, a little dance, and an immobility spell (that held me to the ground while she prances away), I found out that behind that elven smile was another person who would just want to make our playing lives in Lineage a bit better.

So guys, ease up on her.

AMDG puts its foot down on RMT

For those unfamiliar with Real Money Trading (RMT) look here first.

AMDG just floored the community with news last night regarding its fight against RMT/Adena sellers.

On to date, AsianMedia is standing firm to address the RMT concern in Lineage II. A total of 50,000 characters have been sanctioned for third party program usage and over 30 billion adena has been seized from 19 accounts in both Aria and Blackbird servers. This action was based on the continuous intensive investigation from the Lineage II SEA GM Team in which the said “bank” accounts are the ones responsible for fueling RMT spammers in town, which cause item price increase (economic inflation) and too much botting.
AMDG finally shows its teeth and muscle! I'm hoping that the company continues it's streak against these sellers.

Kudos to you guys!

Gracia Update: Kamaloka

Since we're still waiting for AMDG to give us the Gracia update, we'll have to content ourselves in the meantime with what others in NA and Korea are going through now.

It's a treat then that Lineage 2 Fansite has a vid of Kamaloka, the new instanced hunting ground. Guys from Lineage 2 SEA, see the future here, now!

Lineage 2 SEA is a year old

Yep, according to HGM Gilrain, it's Lineage 2 SEA's first birthday. Congratulations to AMDG, iPlay Asia & Trade, Cubetech, and NCSoft for bringing to us such a grand game.

There's been a lot of challenges (crit errors, bots, RMT), we've a lost a lot of people (both on the players and management side), but we're all still here. I hope that we can continue to expand and grow in population.

To celebrate this event, below is the first sighted Lineage 2 ad. Please remember to pause the mp3 player on the right bar.

Thanks to the guys at Lineage 2 Fansite!

Cheers!

Personal reaction to the 2x and 3x modification

As mentioned in my last post, the 2x for life and 3x every weekend from July to August has been implemented. There were some high level players who didn't like AMDG's move, however the new ones were very appreciative--including yours truly.

When I logged back in, I noticed that there were more newbies around the starter town (well, at least in the Dark elf's Village) than last time I was here. Could this be a spillover effect of free installers and the aforementioned in-game changes? Most likely. Whatever the reason, new players or old ones rerolling new characters is a good sign.

Another thing I've noticed is that grinding is less of a chore than it used to be. It's easier to level up, more loot falls on the ground, and I have excess SP ready to be used to gain new skills.

My concern are the mat prices. Since there's more mats falling off, will this finally lower down the prices? This will enable more supplies than it used to be. As Jercouzen said in the forums, it only takes a few players to lower down their prices and the effect will snowball.

Will This Enable Voice Chat in Lineage 2 SEA?

In the old forums, I remember someone asking for a survey whether they wanted to have voice chat in-game. Of course, a lot of people agreed to it and even suggested Ventrillo or Teamspeak. However, nothing came of it and it died a natural death.

Now with news on the partnering of NCSoft and Vivox (one of the world's best providers of voice chat for online games like World of Warcraft, and Second Life), looks like that reality may come in the near future.
Through this partnership, the NCsoft player community will enjoy market-leading voice chat from Vivox. Players will have the ability to communicate with scalable, full featured voice within and across NCsoft games via an NCsoft branded game communication portal. Vivox will also deliver advanced features such as voice fonts, voice mail and in-and-out of game communication via regular phones and text messages.
However, the question will be, is that, will this be implemented in Lineage 2 SEA or will it be included in future NCSoft games like Aion? I'm hoping that it will come here soon, but most likely, they'll try it out at the NA and Korea servers first. It'll be up to AMDG and iPlayAsia to push the envelope and request that we be included as soon as possible.

Monster Race Track=Flea Market??

I've been playing Lineage 2 SEA for a few months now and I've read a lot of things about the Monster Race Track (MRT) and all of them bad. Instead of players going there to bet on races (and probably earning adena) you'll see this:

Lineage 2 SEA Monster Race Track

Where's Arcalcalimo?

You can hardly see me in the screenshot with all these sellers here!

I'm not saying that selling is bad, it's actually good for the game's economy, it's just that the place has totally lost its significance as a racing track. It's now become a flea market. There were proposals in the forums that a real market place be set up where traders and buyers can go to. Unfortunately, the reason why this place is such a hit for the traders is that you can teleport here for free.

I suggest that a market place be set up in a town somewhere where every trader can ply their wares. Of course, it means that the teleport there should be free because it'll be useless if you spend adena just to go there. It's like a mall's parking place, it has to be free so the consumers can buy more stuff.

I know that some AMDG or iPlayAsia people read this so I hope my suggestion will be heard.

Treasure Box Event

We got a new event for Lineage 2 SEA, and I'm glad it's not connected to the Kamael update.

It's called the Treasure Box event. Basically, it's like the letters event multiplied by six. There are 6 colored stones that you need to collect from treasure chests. However, these chests are locked and the keys need to be collected from monster drops. PLUS you still need to get other hard-to-get items.

Personal note: Although I do appreciate AMDG and iPlayAsia giving us these in-game events, I would like to suggest that they figure out first, what kind of prizes the players would like. For example, I'm not sure how many players out there would like to wear a Piggy Hat nor a Teddy Bear Hat.

If you haven't seen them before, here's how they'll look like on you:

Pig Hat

...oink

Teddy Bear Hat

Pooh?

Thanks to l2info.arktic.net for the pics.

I do hope I'm not pissing off anyone from iPlayAsia nor AMDG because of this.

New Kamael Patch Notes

For those who, like me, opened up the Lineage 2 SEA Launcher and was surprised that it was downloading a patch and wondering what was being downloaded to your favorite game, fret no more! Iplayasia and AMDG just provided us with a Patch note here.

Here's the details. Warning: this deals more with the Kamael than any race:

1. Decrease the penalty of the skill Magic Recovery against the Guilted Body skill of the Kamael, from 30% to 5%.

2. Kamael HP recovery increased from 700HP to 900HP.

2. Essential Spellbooks, Amulet, Blueprint and Battle Manual for level 40-74 can now be bought through every starting villages Gorcery.

4. Level Requirements added to the spellbooks item description.

5. Skill, Item Re-use Time are now announced through the System Message Window.

6. Problem Fixed for the skill Mysterious Cube.

7. Hellbounds NPC Girone, Buron and Bernarde now explains detailed information about Hellbound.

8. Fixed the number of ingredients (Compound Braid, Asofe) needed for the follwowing Equipments:

  • Draconic Bow
  • Sealed Draconic Leather Helmet

9. Clan Hall Authority problems fixed.

10. Clan reputation is now consumed normally when building the Order of Knights.

11. Number of crystal increased when crystalizing Icarus Weapons.

12. Castle Circlet is now non-exchangeable/dropable.

13. Agathion's special skill fixed.

14. The effect of clan death fortune, residence death fortune and apella set
effect has been changed to lessen the chance to lose exp points and
death penalty from pk/monster deaths.

15. Non-sellable items are now not visible when you are selling your stuffs.

16. Dark Water Dragon minion Shade does not respawn when killed.

17. Attacking Shade will agro Dark Water Dragon.

18. If Core's minions move out the boss zone they will return to original spot where they came from.

I'm not sure how this will affect the game, but it sure will make the Kamael's life a bit easier. Will there be any patches specific for the other races?

Promo extension and why I haven't been posting lately

Yes, why the heck was I not posting since the Kamael Update? Well, guys I 've been grinding like all the rest of you. I'm also making sure that I use the Forever in Ether (FIE) promo to its hilt.

Talking about the FIE promo, a lot of players requested that it be extended to one more week because of the following:
  • Their Kamael still hasn't leveled-up enough yet. The whole race might be decimated by the other races once the FIE promo closes.
  • Critical Errors and sudden shutdowns have really bogged down the game. I personally experienced this a lot for the last three days and it really did not help with my playing experience at all. Although I've been using Alcarcalimo (my Dark Elf) since April 15, I'm still below Level 20 because of all these errors I'm getting.
Lo and behold AMDG listened to us players and has extended the promo up until May 6! See details here!

Thanks to AMDG! See you online!

Lineage II: the Kamael Collector’s Edition Box Review

Collector's Edition boxes target freaks.

So here I am, gleefully giving away the remaining money I have to buy the Lineage II: the Kamael Collector’s Edition box. Some of you may be wondering if it's worth it. Well, to help the undecided, I've done a review of the boxed set for you guys.

First off, please accept my apologies for the really grainy, greeny pictures: my mobile phone sucks. Here's the box about to be ripped to shreds:

It's thin and light (like a Kamael, heheh). The print is detailed and clear. The back of the box provides info that iPlay Asia should've posted on the site; believe me when I say they would've convinced more people to buy the set, if they did.

Now let's open the darned thing!

On the left is the "exclusive" Kamael Guide, on top is the installer, and on the right is the Time Card and Doggie Tags. Let's deal with them one by one.

The doggie tag looks well made. It's light and shiny, but if you're no Kamael user, you might not want to wear this. The Time Card is made of PVC with an image of a Kamael; it feels like a credit card. Both are nice.

The "exclusive" guide is what I'm most disappointed in. The print was sub standard, the information was already in the website. well, we ARE a year late with this game, so I understand completely. They could've made this guide look better instead of this pamphlet I'm holding now.

The installer! Here's a screen shot of what you'll expect when you load it:

I'm not sure about those who downloaded the installer, if they got to see the same thing, but it's got a lot of goodies in it such as wallpapers, 3 videos. I wonder if anyone can copy the background music from this DVD.

Well, those are my thoughts regarding this boxed set. In my point of view, it is worth it.

What about you?

Lineage 2 SEA Newsletter?

Forgive me for my ignorance folks, but I didn't know that Lineage 2 SEA had a newsletter.

I had to dig this up in this news article. According to the cover it's April 2008 Issue 1, so this would be the premiere issue. Was there an announcement? They could've been able to get more response from the Lineage 2 SEA community if they did. I hope they can provide us with more information in the May issue.

Do they have more pages or info than a Kamael Update-related promo? I honestly did not even know this promo existed. Is this part of a particular quest? I read here from the old forums that it was discontinued. Will they go ahead with this once the Kamael's out and about on April 22 or is this dead in the water?

Win a Gaming PC!

Forgot to mention this one.

AMDG has a promo in relation with the Kamael Update. It's basically a raffle where you stand to win quite a lot of cool IRL and in-game items.

The prize depends on when you opened an account.

If you started playing on or after April 1, you can win these uber cool prizes:

Beginner's Flight Prizes:

One (1) winner of a Gaming PC worth Php 50,000.00 and Full D-grade armor set (in game items.)

Consolation Prizes:

Five (5) winners of one (1) Demonic Circlet in-game items.

I'm all for the Gaming PC. Lord, knows I need a new one.

For the vets or those who have been playing the game before April 1, they can win the following prizes:

Journeyman's Legacy Prizes:
1st Prize- One (1) winner of an A-grade in-game weapon of the player’s choice and a gaming mouse worth Php 3,000.00

2nd Prize- One (1) winner of an A-grade in-game armor of the player’s choice and a gaming mouse worth Php 3,000.00

3rd Prize- One (1) winner of ten (10) Blessed Scroll: Enchant Weapon (Grade B) in-game items choice and a gaming mouse worth Php 3,000.00

Consolation Prizes- Fifty (50) winners of one (1) Blessed Scroll: Enchant Weapon (Grade C) in-game item.

I'm freaking lucky I started on April 15. Although, personally, the vets should also have a chance to win the PC. This will make it fair for everyone else.

What do you guys think?

April 22: Busy day for Lineage 2 SEA fans

Yep, besides the launching of the Kamael update and the Collector's Boxed Set, AMDG, the carrier of Lineage 2 in the Philippines, will be opening up a lot of in-game events and promos.

First up is the 2X increase in Exp, SP, and better monster drops. Yaaay! This one I likee!

Another in-game event is the Alphabet Event. You have to collect various letters from monsters. If you collect letters that form either Lineage II or Throne, then you stand to get some cool in-game prizes. The prizes are nice but it seems like a grindfest for me. Oh well, who am I to talk anyway.

And lastly, this promo is for those who have little adena (me included). You can now teleport to special hunting grounds for less adena. The only problem is, they don't have a list of these "special hunting" grounds yet. I'll post them as soon as I get a list on April 22.

My comment to all this swarming of promos and events: Great! I'm just hoping that they continue on doing this the whole year round to ensure that the L2SEA players have more things to do rather than do quests, gank, and grind.

Kamael Installer: Download Page and More News

Yaay! Finally AMDG has placed a download page for the Kamael Installer. They also put in the link that I saw earlier.

Another plus was that they posted a page step-by-step guide on how to get an installer and then actually how to install it. Haven't tried downloading anything through FTP yet though. Is it faster?

Weird, I see these updates in the main page and they all reflect April 15, 2008; 3:00 PM. When in fact I read these news a day or so later. Hmmm...

Here's where it starts

Hi, thanks for coming in.

This is my first post on my Lineage 2 character's journey to becoming a Spectral Dancer. The Dark Elf, Alcarcalimo. His name is the elf's translation for alcar "glory, splendour, brillance"and calima "bright". Although I will have to admit that a Dark Elf with a name that signifies bright light can be confusing.

Here's a picture of him at Level 10:

Alcarcalimo

Why Lineage 2? It's got great graphics, well thought of background story, and the details are just so crazy. I'm falling in love with it. I would've gladly taken this on during its Closed Beta (CB) or Open Beta Phase (OP), but was just so busy at work.

Why am I creating this character so near the new Lineage 2 SEA launch of Kamael? I just decided to join the game again after a long hiatus because of pending day jobs. Besides, I have no plans of going Kamael on anyone yet and I just love Dark Elves more.

Why a Spectral Dancer (SD)?
Well, I've always wanted to be support rather than a Damage Dealer (DD), besides, players would gladly accept supports rather than DDs (there's quite a number of them running around I heard).

I'm expecting quite a lot once the Kamael updates come in. Hopefully there's going to be a system that will deal with botting, gankers, and Real Money Trading (RMT) in-game. I know it's next to impossible, but Asian Media Development Group (AMDG) and NCSoft has to take this seriously....arrrghhh I'll take up that issue on another post.

Anyways hope you can join me online one day and let's form a party. Just whisper "Alcarcalimo" in the Aria Server.
